I would say that even if you can technically use Google Docs for this kind of collaboration, nobody does it really. Multiple people editing my document in the same time? No thanks, I don't want that kind of help. The chat is great, I agree. So is sharing the document ... but I would like to see also a change history feature. Similar to MS Office's change tracking feature.

Google Docs search settings
Welcome to the new and improved Google Docs search settings. For those of us extensively using Google Docs, searching for a document can be a tricky thing.
When you go to the Google Docs website, the documents are ordered in the descending date order. That may not be very helpful, but lucky for us Google also has the best search engine so they borrowed a few features from there.

- search folders
- sharing
- shared with ( this one's also useful, as most use Google Docs for it's sharing capabilities)
- owner is ( email address of owner)
- date
A cool thing that you can also do is save the search , by giving it a name, for latter use.

How to always have the newest Google Docs version working for you
Google adds features all the time to it's Google Docs application suite. The newest and hottest features are usually not available from the beginning to all it's users. They do this because new releases may still have a few development bugs in them, even though the general functionality is there.
Experienced users or users who are always in search for something more from Google Docs may choose to take the risk of facing a few bugs of the new version for the benefit of enhancing the usability of Google Docs. They can do this by going to their Google Docs settings , select the Editing tab , and checking the box next to “New version of Google documents”.
